# Getting Started with Subscription

This page summarizes the key concepts of subscriptions and is not a separate screen within the app. Actual setup can be done on each guide page below.

## What Is a Seat

* Seat: A slot for using paid editing permission in the workspace.
* A seat is required if you have workspace **`Member`** or higher permission, or if you are **`Guest`** and want **`Edit (Limited)`** or higher permission in a project.
* View and comment-level permissions (**`View`**, **`Comment`**) can be used without a seat.

## What Is Assistant Usage

* Assistant Usage: The usage consumed to use Assistant features such as shading generation.
* The base allowance resets on the recurring billing date each month, and remaining usage does not carry over to the next month.
* The base allowance varies by plan; you can check the base allowance per plan on the **`Assistant`** tab of the **`Plan`** page.
* If you have used up the base allowance, you can purchase additional usage at [Adding Assistant Usage](/docs/guide/en/subscription/assistant-usage.md), or increase the base allowance itself via [Change Plan](/docs/guide/en/subscription/plan.md).

## Subscriptions Are Per Workspace

* Plan, seats, and Assistant usage are all managed per workspace.
* Workspace **`Owner`** and **`Admin`** can manage the subscription (change plan, payment, etc.).
* **`Member`** can only view subscription information, and **`Guest`** cannot access subscription-related screens.
